Statement from the Chairman

Dear Kiddieland Consumer,

Kiddieland, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, has issued a voluntary recall of certain Lights & Sounds Scooters and one model of plastic Princess Racing Trike. Despite the fact that these products have consistently passed every single testing requirement, we feel strongly that this action will make them safer and better, and we sincerely apologize for any concern and inconvenience that this voluntary recall may cause you. We would also like to explain to you how the situation came about and how we will be immediately addressing the issue. The safety and well-being of our consumers and their children are of utmost importance, and we are doing everything we can to proactively remedy this situation.

As soon as Kiddieland was made aware of certain potential injury possibilities and most importantly because the safety of our consumers and their children is critical to us, Kiddieland has chosen to initiate a voluntary recall of these products. We are offering existing consumers free component replacements to remedy the situation and render each product entirely safe, above and beyond current testing standards. To receive a free component for either item and communicate with our Consumer Relations team, consumers should contact Kiddieland at 800-430-5307 or www.kiddieland.com.hk.

Furthermore, effective immediately, all affected products are being removed from retailers’ shelves and will be replaced by new and improved versions. In the case of the scooters we have added a slow release resistance spring to the hinge. When the release button is pressed, the scooter will require adult pressure to release the scooter, and adult pressure again for the handlebar to come all the way down. In the case of the plastic Princess Racing Trike, a brand new design with an enclosed clear plastic dome will be substituted.

We take safety extremely seriously and our consumers should be assured that our products have passed all safety tests required by the countries and territories in which they are marketed and sold. This is Kiddieland’s first recall, and we remain committed to producing safe, high quality toys and holding our products to the highest safety standards.

We fully understand that everyone expects that every single product manufactured and marketed by Kiddieland must be safe for children. Kiddieland is a global family company with two generations of experience in the toy business that is dedicated to producing safe and durable toys. Like our consumers, we are parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, and we understand that everyone deserves to be confident of our children’s safety, and we will continue to work hard to ensure that our products are safe and engaging. That is a promise from our family to yours!

Sincerely,

Victor Lo
